Well, we are full swing in the middle of Celtic Connections, and like previous years this has lived up to expectations and lack of sleep!!
Siobhan was involved in a project put together by Karine Polwart called the ‘Scottish Song book’, which entailed 100 years of Scottish songs, contemporary and traditional. The concert was on the 16th of January in the Main Auditorium of the concert hall and she did a fantastic job to a sold out crowd! It was filmed for the BBC and you can watch both of the songs that she performed on the BBC iPlayer.

Jeana has been busy with the Celtic Connections Education project which does morning concerts in the main auditorium of the concert hall each day for school pupils and then in the afternoon the tutors go out to schools and do come and try workshops in Fiddle, Whistle, Bodhran, Singing and Dancing.

We have just found out that we have been nominated for the ‘Horizon’ award, which is part of the BBC Folk Awards. We are very excited and hte thought had never even crossed our minds that we would be put forward for this award!
The ‘Horizon’ award is for ‘Up and Coming acts’, and is judged by a panel of around 170 broadcasters, folk journalists, festival organisers, agents, promoters ect; people whose job it is to make judgement of one sort or another about folk music during thier daily work.
We are honoured to be in this category alongside Bella Hardy, Jackie Oates and The Shee. As The Shee stated on their myspace, it is total girl power!
Thanks to everyone for supporting us this past year!
Cheers
Jeana & Siobhan xx

We have been nominated for the ‘Up and Coming Artist of the Year’ for the Scots Trad Awards 2008, along with our good friends Bodega, Catriona Watt and Ailie Robertson. Thanks to everyone who voted and we are sure it’s going to be a great night!
The awards are being held in Glasgow this year at the Old Fruitmarket on the 6th of December and are going to be broadcasted by BBC ALBA on the 8th of December.
